Despite the known difficulties due to the coronavirus health emergency, in the first few months of the year (especially February and March) some specific monitoring and analysis actions within the LIFE PHOENIX framework were carried out by project partner IRSA-CNR.

In particular, the monitoring campaign related to the contamination of the cC6O4 perfluorinated substance was started along the Po river and its tributaries. This activity was recently included in the LIFE PHOENIX Action C1 and involves the collection of water samples, taken in specially identified sites in order to also evaluate their bioaccumulation and biomagnification potential in trophic chains.

Furthermore, it was carried out the chemical analysis for the quantification of PFAS present in the plant samples, the latter coming from the pilot plant as well as linked to the efficiency tests. At the same time, the results related to the plants collected in the sites classified as wetlands were delivered. Finally, the plant and animal samples associated to the second monitoring campaign, carried out in 2019, were acquired from the University of Padua.
