The LIFE PHOENIX project at the second edition of the ENSOr event

On 18 May 2020, LIFE PHOENIX project representatives participated at the second edition of the ENSOr event, titled "International workshop on Emerging challenges on New SOil contaminants", organized in virtual mode by OVAM (Public Waste Agency of Flanders - Belgium - for the sustainable management of waste, contaminated sites and soil resources).

LIFE PHOENIX's presence at the event had been scheduled as part of the project's transferability and reproducibility plan and follows the meetings already held in 2018 in Brussels, during the first edition of ENSOr, where the strategic project objectives had been introduced. The proposed contributions in this second edition concerned an update on the progress of the project and a specific focus on the numerical model of flow and transport of the pollution in the aquifer. Both contributions were illustrated by the ARPAV staff involved in the project.

At the ENSOr meeting, centered on PFAS issues and soil and groundwater contaminations, various institutions, research bodies, environmental experts and industry representatives participated with online contributions. In particular, the work programme involved two moments of activity: the first dedicated to the PFAS policy actions undertaken in various European contexts, the second directed to research area and reclamation techniques with presentations of case studies.
