LIFE PHOENIX Webinar: methods for the analysis of PFAS and emerging contaminants. October 6, 2020

PFAS and emerging contaminants. How to research these substances in the environment?
To answer this question, a free webinar entitled "PFAS and emerging contaminants: experiences and analytical methods compared" will be held on October 6, within the LIFE PHOENIX Project, with the intervention of speakers directly involved in the project activities and experts in the analytical research sector for emerging contaminants.

The presence of the so-called "emerging" contaminants has become a priority environmental issue in order to protect the environment and human health. When we talk about emerging contaminants, we are not referring exclusively to new chemical products, but more generally to substances not regulated by legislation or to other substances detected in the environment on which there is insufficient scientific knowledge in terms of health and environment effects.

The whole LIFE PHOENIX project, coordinated by the Veneto Region (Health and Social sectors), is developed around this theme, which moves from the experience of PFAS contamination occurred in Veneto Region to propose an innovative approach in order to manage in a timely and effective way the risks arising from water pollution by emerging contaminants. Forecasting systems and mitigation strategies are the main tools identified to manage effects and issues arising from the spread of these pollutants and to limit, if not avoid, consequential damages to the environment and health, while containing the necessary costs for the restoration of contaminated sites.

Therefore the LIFE PHOENIX project, as part of the monitoring action, proposes a workshop aimed at professionals to be held in webinar mode and organized on Tuesday 6 October 2020 (9.15-13.30). During the event there will be speakers directly involved in the project through the development of analytical methods for the PFAS research and experts in the analytical research sector of emerging contaminants. A further goal is to share the criticalities detected in the analysis of emerging contaminants with the main stakeholders and with technicians/scientists operating in different public or private sectors.

Participation at the workshop is free of charge, with compulsory registration by October 3. There are still places available. The link to connect will be provided to subscribers the day before the event. To participate click HERE.

LIFE PHOENIX is a project coordinated by the Veneto Region, co-funded by the European Union through the LIFE Program (LIFE16/ENV/IT/000488).
